tandis que partout l'on abuse de son image...

Camel racing is very popular in the arabic peninsula, like in Qatar, where its modern version was introduced in 1972. The dusty track of Al Shahaniyah is about 40 kilometers from Doha. Although children jockeys have been replaced recently by robots, the crowd of Land Cruisers is still big on racing days.

Trainers and their camels gather around the starting line while the public sits in their cars on the side, protected by heat and dust. Once the start signal is given it all vanishes in a minute, with camels running away, hit by the robots jockeys, and the crowd of spectator vehicles rushing to follow them.

The photographer, on foot, is left behind, in a cloud of dust.
